On the bottom left of the map there is a field It opens when you click on it:

Here you can set the following:

Steps per second	Specify how often (per second) position marks will be redrawn.
Years per step	Specify the increment (in years) per step.
Time runs dynamically	If selected: In periods with few changes, the step size (years per step) is large, in periods with many changes, it is smaller. The steps per second will remain unchanged.

If you click on the small cross in the upper right corner, the option box closes.
